About Ancol Reflective Safety Cat Collar With Bell - Red With 'I Am Micro Chipped' Printed
One of our favourite collars for cats who spend time outdoors is the Ancol Safety Reflective Cat Collar with Bell and 'I am Micro Chipped' print.
The collar is a high quality and safety orientated design, intended to make sure that your cat is both seen and safe on their adventures outside. The 'I am Micro Chipped' print not only alerts people who may meet your cat on their travels or who find your cat if they are injured that your cat should be scanned for a Micro Chip to find your details, but is reflective as well, making your cat safer around the roads in low light.
Another important safety feature of the collar is the quick release plastic breakaway buckle fastening. If your cat is caught by the collar, for example in a tree or bush, the pressure that this puts on the collar will allow it to snap open, freeing your cat and helping to avoid serious injury.
To help to protect and conserve the wildlife in your local area, the collar comes with a matching red warning bell. Research from the RSPB has shown that when outdoor cats are wearing a collar with a bell, they will catch over a third fewer small mammals and birds. It will also make for fewer unpleasant 'gifts' from your cat to be cleaned up when they arrive home! If you are finding that your cat is still bringing home prey, you may wish to consider adding an extra bell to their collar.
If your cat has not yet been Micro Chipped, we strongly recommend that you arrange this with your local vet as soon as possible. Cats Protection advise that the procedure of inserting the Micro Chip itself will not cause your cat any more pain than a routine injection. Unlike a collar, there is no chance of a Micro Chip being lost and most vets are able to scan found cats to reunite them with their family.
