Description

Perfect for senior dogs who just need a little extra support throughout their golden years, Burns Senior + Hypoallergenic kibble is healthy, tasty and contains controlled levels of protein and fat to maintain ideal bodyweight, as well as glucosamine, chondroitin, methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) and salmon oil to help maintain joints and mobility.

Special ingredients such as green tea and blueberry extract have also been added to maintain good cognitive function, making it perfect for dogs who want to live well at any age.

All Burns diets avoid ingredients that commonly cause intolerance such as beef, wheat, soya and dairy, and are also free from any artificial colours, flavourings or preservatives.

Extremely palatable due to the high meat content, this food is often used as low to medium value training treats by owners keen to improve the behaviour of their dogs. The kibble size is ideal for use in treat dispensing toys such as Trixie Dog Activity Snack Balls. For dogs with sensitivities, intolerances and allergies, it is important to ensure that any treats used do not contain the trigger food. Ideal treats for these dogs may include natural chews from the Primal Source range, such as those containing novel proteins like Hairy Rabbit Ears, and smaller high value training treats such as Pet Munchies Meaty Training Treats.

Symptoms of food allergies and intolerances in dogs can encompass anything from chronic ear infections, gastrointestinal issues and chronic diarrhoea to constant licking of the feet, tear stains, chronic gas and itching. Acute symptoms should always be seen by a veterinary professional to ensure they can be treated appropriately. Some vets will recommend allergy testing, others will recommend an exclusion diet, during which the dog should be trialled on multiple different diets, including wheat gluten free, grain free, chicken free, etc. in an attempt to discover the trigger. While medication may be administered to treat the symptoms of an allergy, it is important to discover the root cause to prevent ongoing suffering caused by exposure to the allergen.
