Description

Comprising a selection of the finest freshly prepared ingredients from nutritious and highly digestible animal protein sources, Pet Connection's Grain Free Large Breed Adult Dog Food with Turkey, Sweet Potato & Cranberry is ideal for adult dogs of all sizes, with a crunchy kibble texture and an optimal kibble size and shape for larger adult dogs to savour.

The veterinary approved formula is natural, complete and balanced, ideal for dogs with sensitive stomachs and those requiring a hypoallergenic diet. Formulated with sweet potato, a complex carbohydrate rich in B vitamins, and potato, rather than the grains typically found in dog foods, the food is perfect for dogs who suffer from sensitivities or allergies to grains such as wheat.

Each 12kg bag contains 8.3kg of turkey, meaning that the percentage of animal protein relative to the total protein contained is 69%.

Responsibly sourced and highly digestible, Turkey is the delicious key protein source contained within the food, ensuring a reliable source of essential amino acids, B vitamins and Iron. Cranberries are included for their essential vitamins C, E and K, and beneficial dietary fibre. Omega 3 is added to boost cognitive and visual development as an excellent source of EPA and DHA. Naturally preserved using rosemary extract, the food is free from artificial colours and preservatives.

Large breed dogs are more likely to suffer from a condition known as Bloat or Gastric Dilation Volvulus (GDV), an often fatal ailment where the stomach can twist and fill with gas. Although the exact causes of bloat are unknown, it is thought that dogs who eat very quickly, taking in lots of air as they guzzle their food, may be more at risk of the condition. The risk of bloat may be reduced by preventing exercise before and after eating, feeding multiple small meals per day, using a mixture of a high quality dry kibble and wet food such as Dylan Variety Tins, and feeding meals from a Slow Feeding Bowl.

Symptoms of food allergies and intolerances in dogs can encompass anything from chronic ear infections, gastrointestinal issues and chronic diarrhoea to constant licking of the feet, tear stains, chronic gas and itching. Acute symptoms should always be seen by a veterinary professional to ensure they can be treated appropriately. Some vets will recommend allergy testing, others will recommend an exclusion diet, during which the dog should be trialled on multiple different diets, including wheat gluten free, grain free, chicken free, etc. in an attempt to discover the trigger. While medication may be administered to treat the symptoms of an allergy, it is important to discover the root cause to prevent ongoing suffering caused by exposure to the allergen.

Extremely palatable due to the high meat content, this food is often used as low to medium value training treats by owners keen to improve the behaviour of their dogs. The  kibble size is ideal for use in treat dispensing toys such as Trixie Dog Activity Snack Balls. For dogs with sensitivities, intolerances and allergies, it is important to ensure that any treats used do not contain the trigger food. Ideal treats for these dogs may include natural chews from the Anco Naturals range, such as those containing novel proteins like Hairy Deer Ears and Rabbit Hide Rolls, and smaller high value training treats such as Pet Munchies Chicken Training Treats.
