Johnson's Flea & Tick Collar is a water resistant collar designed to kill fleas and ticks, and prevent reinfestation for up to 4 months.
Johnson's Flea and Tick Collars should not be used on dogs younger than 12 weeks of age, those that have been treated with any other insecticides or nursing mothers.
The collar releases the active ingredient over a long period of time, as the ingredient spreads through the natural oils of the skin and coat it will kill fleas that come into contact.
Fleas are a common carrier of Tapeworm eggs, so if your pet has fleas it is important to treat them with a wormer such as Beaphar WormClear to target intestinal worms.
If your pet currently has fleas, it is important to treat their environment and other pets in the house for external parasites to prevent reinfestation. We don't recommend putting pets infested with fleas outside if they normally live indoors, as the fleas will begin to bite the human residents of the home. Instead, apply a fast-acting spot on such as Fiprotec and the fleas will begin to die as they bite the treated pet. In conjunction with treating the pets, Foggers and Sprays, infestations can be removed reasonably quickly.
All pet medicines must pass stringent testing to prove they are effective and safe before they are sold, regardless of whether they are available 'over the counter' or must be prescribed by a vet. All parasite control treatments available at Pet Connection have been proven effective and safe for pets, their owners and the environment, when used according to the instructions on the packaging. If you are concerned or unsure about the most suitable product for your pet, please feel free to contact us and we can provide information and advice.
The collar is 65cm long and when fitted to a fully grown dog enough space should be allowed to insert 2 fingers between the collar and the dog's neck. If fitting to a dog who is still growing, ensure that the collar is loosened as the dog gets bigger. To fit, simply slide the free end through the buckle, tighten to give a comfortable fit, and cut off excess length with scissors.
Diazinon (Dimpylate) is an organophosphorous compound, so do not use this collar on a dog who sleeps in your bed, avoid excessive handling of the collar and do not allow children to play with the collar. After 4 months of use, remove the collar and dispose of it in household refuse.
Do not allow your dog to swim in ponds, waterways or ditches when wearing the collar, as the active ingredient is extremely dangerous for fish and aquatic life.
