At the beginning of September 2017, we began to notice an increase in the amount of cats going missing in our local area, Newry.
In an attempt to discover why these cats were disappearing from their homes, we have appealed for owners of other cats who have gone missing to get in touch with us.
The results have been distressing. We have had cats reported throughout Ireland, with a total of 410 cats reported missing since September 2017, as of the 17th April 2018. We expect this number to rise.
If your cat has gone missing in Ireland/Northern Ireland, please report it to us through our web form, which you can access by clicking 'Report a Missing Cat', above.
We are working to discover patterns in these disappearances, and hopefully prevent future cats from going missing.
Unfortunately, we believe the cats may be being taken for malicious purposes.
If you believe your cat has been stolen or intentionally harmed, please report this to the PSNI or Gardaí.
