Trixie Slow Feed No Gulp Bowl | Healthy Eating & Digestion Aid

Dogs are by instinct and history scavengers, often competing for food within a pack. This has left many modern dogs with an inherent need to "gobble" down their meal as fast as possible. However, eating too quickly can lead to serious health issues, including choking, vomiting, and the life-threatening condition known as bloat.

The Trixie Slow Feed No Gulp Bowl is a specialized solution designed with internal ridges and obstacles that effectively prevent your dog from inhaling their food. By forcing your dog to work for their meal, these bowls transform a thirty-second "inhale" into a mindful, leisurely mealtime.

Why Use a Slow Feed Bowl for Your Dog?

Using a slow feeder is one of the easiest ways to improve your dog's long-term health. Beyond just slowing them down, these bowls provide several key benefits:

  • Prevents Bloat (GDV): Rapid eating causes dogs to swallow excess air, which can lead to a twisted stomach—a medical emergency particularly common in larger, deep-chested breeds.

  • Aids Nutrient Absorption: When food is gulped, it often isn't chewed properly. Slower eating allows for efficient digestion, ensuring your dog receives the full nutritional value of their food.

  • Weight Management: By extending mealtime, your dog's brain has more time to receive "full" signals, helping them feel satisfied with appropriate portion sizes.

  • Mental Stimulation: Navigating the internal maze provides a mild form of mental enrichment, turning dinner into a rewarding puzzle.

Durable Design and Easy Maintenance

Crafted from high-quality, food-grade plastic, Trixie slow feeders are built for daily use. The smooth internal surfaces are designed to be gentle on your dog's tongue and gums while remains simple for owners to clean. Most models feature a non-slip rubber ring on the base to prevent the bowl from sliding across the floor during enthusiastic eating.

Finding the Right Size for Your Pet

We offer the Trixie No Gulp Bowl in three distinct sizes to suit every breed, from compact puppies to large guardians:

  • Small (0.45 Litre): Ideal for small breeds, puppies, and cats.

  • Medium (0.9 Litre): Perfect for medium-sized dogs like Spaniels or Beagles.

  • Large (1.5 Litre): Designed for large and extra-large breeds such as Labradors, Retrievers, and German Shepherds.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is this bowl suitable for both wet and dry food?

A: Yes, the ridges work effectively with kibble, raw diets, or canned wet food to slow down the eating pace.

Q: How do I clean the Trixie Slow Feed Bowl?

A: These bowls can be hand-washed with warm, soapy water or placed in the top rack of the dishwasher for a thorough clean.

Q: Will this bowl slide around while my dog eats?

A: Trixie bowls  include a non-slip rubber base to provide stability, ensuring your dog can focus on their food without "chasing" the bowl.

Q: Can I use this for a dog with a flat face (brachycephalic)?

A: Yes, but we recommend choosing a larger size than usual to ensure they can comfortably navigate the ridges with their wider jaw shape.

About Trixie Slow Feed No Gulp Bowl 0.45L, 20cm

Dogs are by instinct and history scavengers, competing for food with members of the pack or other carnivores which has left them with an inherent need to gobble down their meal before it?s taken from them.
However, eating too fast can cause a number of problems for a dog, including choking, vomiting, and bloat. Also if food is gulped down, it may not be fully digested, in which case the dog will not be receiving the food?s full nutritional value.

Slow feed bowls have raised obstacles moulded into them that effectively obstruct the dog from gobbling the bowl?s contents straight down. The dog has to work to retrieve the food, mealtimes become more of a challenge and the rate of eating is slowed, helping to reduce the risks inherent in gulping. Also, as an added benefit, the additional time spent chewing food enhances the dog?s dental health.
