Product Description

Would you like to help out the Hedgehogs that visit your garden?

Brambles Crunchy Hedgehog Food is a poultry based, nutritionally balanced dry food with small kibble sized pieces of kibble, which provides Hedgehogs with the vital vitamins and minerals that they need. It is free from artificial flavours and colours and contains no added sugar.

Feeding Guide

Use around a handful of Brambles Crunchy food per Hedgehog each evening, placed in a shallow ceramic dish that will be difficult for the Hedgehogs to tip or a ground feeding tray. Clean, fresh water can be difficult for Hedgehogs to find, especially in built up areas and in extremely hot and cold weather, so leaving a second bowl of water will be greatly appreciated by the Hedgehogs and may be the difference between life and death for them.

You can serve Brambles Crunchy food mixed with Brambles Meaty Hedgehog food.

To prevent dogs and cats from accessing the food, you can use a Hedgehog Hotel, which is weather and predator-proof, or using a weighed down plastic box with a hole with around a 13cm diameter in the base.

Hedgehogs should not be fed milk or bread, as this can make them very ill.

Encouraging Hedgehogs to Visit Your Garden

If you would like to encourage Hedgehogs to visit your garden, follow these tips to make it a Hedgehog Haven:

  • Create a 'safe passage' between your garden and neighbouring gardens by cutting a hole of around 13cm diameter in the bottom of your fence, to allow Hedgehogs easy access to food and water left out for them.
  • Allow a quiet section of your garden to grow wild - avoid the use of pesticides and slug pellets. This will give visiting Hedgehogs a safe area to spend time in.
  • Always check hedges, borders and piles of leaves and grass cuttings for hidden Hedgehogs before using garden tools like strimmers and lawn mowers.
  • Continue to leave food and water out for Hedgehogs during the Winter, especially if the food is still being eaten regularly. Most Hedgehogs will hibernate during the coldest times of the year, typically November to March, but milder weather can mean that the Hedgehogs are still active during this time.

If you find a sick or injured Hedgehog in your garden, we recommend seeking expert advice from a specialist Wildlife rescue.
