About Gentle Leader No Pull Dog Walking Headcollar - Red
Scientifically designed to control unwanted behaviour, the Gentle Leader works with the dog's instincts to prevent pulling on the lead.
A unique triple action, patented designs counteracts the dog's instinct to pull by applying gentle pressure on the back of the neck to naturally stimulate a relaxation response, applying the basic principle that where the nose goes the body will follow, and applying gentle pressure around the muzzle via the nose loop.
The soft weave material is comfortable for the dog to wear, lightweight and non-restrictive when pressure is not applied, durable and easy to fit.
Dogs are able to eat, drink, bark and pant while wearing the Gentle Leader, and the calming effect can help shy and nervous dogs to relax and gain confidence when out walking.

Gentle Leader | Dog Walking | No Pull Headcollar - Red - FAQs
Q1: What is the Gentle Leader No Pull Headcollar?
A1: The Gentle Leader is a unique dog walking tool designed to stop pulling, lunging, and jumping by giving you gentle control over your dog's head and muzzle. It works by redirecting your dog's attention and making it uncomfortable for them to pull, without causing pain or discomfort.
Q2: How does the Gentle Leader work to stop pulling?
A2: Unlike traditional collars that put pressure on the throat, the Gentle Leader applies gentle pressure to the back of the neck (calming pressure, similar to a mother dog carrying her pup) and around the muzzle. When your dog tries to pull, their head is gently guided to the side, making it difficult to continue pulling forward. This naturally encourages them to focus on you and walk politely.
Q3: Is the Gentle Leader comfortable for my dog?
A3: Yes, when fitted correctly, the Gentle Leader is designed to be comfortable. It allows your dog to pant, eat, drink, and fetch freely. Many dogs adjust to it quickly, though some may initially try to paw at it until they get used to the sensation.
Q4: What sizes does the Gentle Leader come in?
A4: The Gentle Leader is available in a range of sizes to fit various breeds, from extra small to extra large. Each size corresponds to a specific weight range and head/muzzle measurement. It's crucial to measure your dog accurately and refer to the Gentle Leader sizing chart (usually found on the packaging or product page) to ensure the correct fit.
Q5: What colour is this specific Gentle Leader?
A5: This particular Gentle Leader is Red. Gentle Leader headcollars are available in various colours.
Q6: Is the Gentle Leader a muzzle?
A6: No, the Gentle Leader is not a muzzle. While it goes around the muzzle, it's designed to allow your dog to open their mouth freely to pant, drink, eat treats, and vocalise. Its primary purpose is behavioural control during walks, not to prevent biting.
Q7: How do I properly fit the Gentle Leader?
A7: Proper fitting is key to its effectiveness and your dog's comfort. The neck strap should be snug, high on the neck, directly behind the ears, allowing only one finger to fit underneath. The nose loop should rest comfortably at the base of the muzzle, above the soft part of the nose. Detailed fitting instructions are always provided with the product, and instructional videos are widely available online.
Q8: Can the Gentle Leader be used for all dogs?
A8: The Gentle Leader is suitable for most dogs over 8 weeks old. It's particularly effective for dogs that pull on the leash, jump, or lunge. If your dog has specific medical conditions related to their head or neck, consult your vet before use.
Q9: What if my dog tries to remove the Gentle Leader?
A9: It's common for dogs to paw at the headcollar initially. This is usually just them getting used to the new sensation. You can help them adjust by introducing it gradually, using positive reinforcement (treats and praise), and ensuring a proper fit. Consistency is key; the more they associate it with pleasant walks, the quicker they'll adapt.
