Petmode Aviation Carrier ✈️ IATA-Compliant Travel Kennels for Dogs & Cats
Petmode Aviation Dog Carrier ✈️ IATA-Compliant Pet Travel Crates for Dogs & Cats (L50-L120)
Safe, Secure & Comfortable Pet Travel
Whether you're emigrating with your pet, travelling on holiday, competing abroad or simply heading to the vet, the Petmode Aviation Dog Carrier provides a strong, secure and comfortable way to transport your dog or cat.
Manufactured from durable, impact-resistant plastic with a heavy-duty steel door, secure fastenings and excellent ventilation, these travel kennels are designed in accordance with the construction principles of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Live Animal Regulations (LAR) for the transport of dogs and cats by air.
Available in seven sizes from L50 to the extra-large L120, there's a carrier suitable for everything from toy breeds and cats through to many giant breeds.
They're equally suitable for travelling by car, ferry and train, as well as providing a secure crate for veterinary visits or temporary use at home.
Important: The International Air Transport Association (IATA) publishes standards for the transport of live animals but does not certify, approve or endorse individual manufacturers, brands or models of pet carrier. Individual airlines may also have additional requirements regarding crate construction, fastenings or documentation, so you should always check your airline's latest pet travel policy before travelling.

Choosing the Correct Size
Choosing the correct travel crate is one of the most important parts of preparing your pet for air travel.
Under the IATA Live Animal Regulations, your pet must have enough room to:
✔ Stand naturally without the top of the head or ears touching the roof.
✔ Sit comfortably without the ears touching the roof.
✔ Turn around normally.
✔ Lie down in a natural resting position.
A carrier that is too small may be refused by your airline.
For this reason, airlines assess the individual animal, not its breed or weight. Dogs of the same breed can vary considerably in height, length and body shape, and males often require a larger carrier than females.
If your pet is close to the maximum size for a carrier, choosing the next size up is usually the safest option.
How to Measure Your Pet
The IATA Live Animal Regulations use four simple measurements to determine the minimum internal size of a travel kennel. Measuring your pet accurately before purchasing will help ensure a safe, comfortable journey and reduce the risk of your airline refusing the carrier at check-in.
Measure your pet while they are standing naturally on a flat surface.
A – Body Length
Measure from the tip of the nose to the base of the tail (do not include the tail).
B – Front Leg Height
Measure from the ground to the elbow joint.
C – Shoulder Width
Measure across the widest part of the body, usually across the shoulders.
D – Standing Height
Measure from the floor to the highest point of the head or the tips of the ears (whichever is higher).
When choosing a carrier, remember to allow for the thickness of any absorbent bedding that will be placed inside.
If your pet is close to the maximum size for a carrier, we recommend selecting the next size up where practical.

Designed with Airline Safety in Mind
Petmode Aviation Carriers incorporate many of the design principles specified in the IATA Live Animal Regulations to help provide a safe environment during transport.
Strong, Secure Construction
Each carrier is manufactured from durable impact-resistant plastic with a two-piece shell secured using heavy-duty wing nuts for additional strength.
Unlike standard pet carriers, aviation carriers are designed to withstand the demands of commercial transport while helping to keep your pet secure throughout the journey.
Smooth Interior
The inside of the carrier features smooth moulded surfaces with no sharp projections that could injure your pet or compromise the strength of the carrier.
Secure Steel Door
Each carrier features a heavy-duty steel mesh door with a secure locking mechanism.
The L120 benefits from an upgraded 4-way locking door for even greater security.
Excellent Ventilation
Large ventilation openings provide excellent airflow while helping maintain the structural strength of the carrier.
Smaller sizes (L50-L60) feature moulded plastic ventilation panels.
Larger sizes (L70-L120) feature strong steel ventilation grilles for increased airflow.
Leak-Resistant Base
The deep plastic base helps contain accidents during transport, making journeys cleaner and more comfortable.
Wheels
The L80, L90, L100 and L120 are supplied with removable wheels to make moving larger carriers much easier.
For airline travel, the IATA Live Animal Regulations state that wheels must either be removed or rendered inoperable before transport unless specifically accepted by your airline.

Preparing Your Pet for Air Travel
Helping your pet become familiar with their travel kennel before the day of travel can significantly reduce stress.
We recommend introducing the carrier several weeks before your journey.
Allow your pet to:
- Explore the carrier at their own pace.
- Eat meals inside the carrier.
- Sleep inside voluntarily.
- Spend gradually increasing periods with the door closed.
- Travel in the carrier on short car journeys before flying.
Before travelling:
- Exercise your dog before arriving at the airport.
- Avoid feeding a large meal within 4-6 hours of departure unless advised otherwise by your vet.
- Ensure fresh water is available before check-in.
- Many experienced travellers freeze water in the supplied bowl so that it melts gradually during the journey, helping to reduce spills.
Most airlines and veterinarians do not recommend sedating pets before flying, as sedation can affect breathing, balance and temperature regulation.
If you have any concerns about your pet travelling, consult your veterinary surgeon well in advance of your journey.
Frequently Asked Questions
